I just came across a very quick and easy way to add a security group to the local administrators (or any other local group) of all computers in an OU using Restricted Groups in Group Policy.

  • In your Group Policy Object, navigate to Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Restricted Groups.
  • Right-click on the Restricted Groups folder, or anywhere in the right pane, and choose Add Group....
  • Enter the name of the domain security group.  Make sure you prefix it with WHARTON\, or just click Browse and find it.
  • Under "This group is a member of", click Add.  If you want to add this domain group to the local administrators of all computers, enter BUILTIN\Administrators.

Twitter in Academia

Given that there is a small Twitter contingent in Wharton Computing, and that I myself am relatively new to Twitter, I found this article on the using Twitter in the classroom pretty interesting.

Could Twitter play a role in creating more of a community in Wharton Computing?
